NAB 2026: notes from the EIKON team

By Piers Godden on April 8, 2026

This year’s NAB felt different. Less a showcase of shiny tools, more an honest look at where workflows, teams and expectations are heading. Across the show floor, the conversations were more grounded than in previous years. There is still excitement around AI, automation and cloud, but the question has moved on. Instead of “What can it do?”, more people are asking “How do we make this useful day to day?”

What sat underneath all of it was a sharper sense of priorities. In the end, only two things really matter: the content and the audience. Everything in between, the tools, the workflows, the platforms, the vendors, exists to serve the connection between them. That realisation is settling across the industry, and it changes the conversation.

The EIKON team spent time with start-ups experimenting with AI in creative, focused ways; small teams solving very specific pain points rather than pitching buzzwords. We are always looking to solve the complete puzzle on behalf of our clients, so it takes time to separate what is truly useful from what is just noise. The interesting work is in identifying the pieces of those approaches that have something unique to offer, and folding them into EIKON-iQ so we can build more complete workflows around real-world problems.

The same theme came through in the more technical corners of the show. Whether the topic was localisation, mastering, QC or agentic workflows, “getting it right for the end viewer” was the constant. The bar for quality is rising throughout the chain, and the expectation now is that content should look and feel consistent across every platform, language and territory. That demands closer alignment between vendors, service providers and content owners than ever before.

For EIKON, the week was a useful reminder of why staying close to emerging ideas and evolving workflows matters. As expectations rise and tools become more interconnected, our role is to provide the clarity and dependable execution that lets the content reach the audience exactly as intended. Everything we do is in service of that.
